What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) which launched on 1st April 2022, is a government scheme that replaces the Renewable Heat Incentive and offers grants of £7,500 to eligible homeowners and small businesses in England and Wales.
The Government Boiler Upgrade Scheme is a grants that is available to encourage property owners to remove oil or gas boilers and install low carbon heating systems such as heat pumps. It is open to domestic and small non-domestic properties in England and Wales and will run from 2022 to 2028. Many new build properties are now installing heat pump instead of traditional gas or o boilers.
Changing the way we heat our homes and properties can help us to reduce carbon emissions and address climate change issues, however the cost of installation can be a barrier for many households.
Under the scheme, you can get:
- £7,500 off the cost and installation of an air source heat pump
- £7,500 off the cost and installation of a ground source heat pump
The following technologies are eligible for the BUS:
- air source heat pumps (not including air-to-air heat pumps)
- ground source heat pumps
- ground source heat pumps as part of a shared ground loop
- biomass boilers
So far to date, we have helped our customers in the successful supply and installation of both Air Source Heat Pumps and Ground Source Heat Pumps as part of the scheme.
We are able deal with the grant application with you to ensure that the whole process is simple and hassle free. We can design the system, order and install the heat pump, and handle the grant application with the government for you.
