Wood chip is the cheapest form of wood fuel.

Although it requires more storage space than wood pellets, the production of chip involves far less processing and as such many system owners are able to process their own supply.

Wood chip boilers are fully-automated systems, and almost exclusively use auger-feeding mechanisms to replenish the boiler automatically.

Wood chip can be bought at varying sizes and moisture contents; it is always advisable to consult the installer or boiler manufacturer before placing your first order, and always buy from a reputable supplier on the Biomass Suppliers List.

It is possible to use an existing wood source rather than having to buy wood pellets but must be a untreated wood otherwise could affect system.
